They just came to visit, Amy and Ed Burns to Colorado from North Carolina.  Amy, Michael's cousin...and he has awesome cousins, asked about these paintings I had leaning against the guest bedroom wall.  They spoke to her.  It just feels so good when someone connects with my art.  I am honored and affirmed.
Shipping is a challenging part of selling art.  It is so expensive.  But, we found a way!  For other artists traveling on Southwest, one can check two bags at no charge and staying within a few measurement and weight parameters, art can be one of them.  Box it up with some bubble wrap though and mark it fragile.  They will take real good care of it in transit.

Both Untitled, 24"x24", Acrylic and Acrylic Mixed

Another first for me was at the Broomfield Art Guild Newcomer's Art Show at the Brunner House.  It was my first year in the Guild and I entered "Fire Within".  It was another artist who connected with it and wanted it in their collection.  This was very special for me and I continue to have great gratitude for Gerry Case, who is an award winning photographer with the Broomfield Art Guild.

A graduation gift to Madeline Robert.  She attended my first professional show at Columbine Spiritual Center and connected with this painting.  It was an honor for me to share it with her.  She and my youngest daughter, Sloan have been close friends since high school and were college roommates all four years.  I am grateful!

I am grateful and honored to have this painting hanging in the office of Annie Wirth, Administrative Assistant at Columbine Unity Spiritual Center. She had an empty wall and wanted something beautiful to hang on it.  I was happy to take care of her need!  She has also been one of my
greatest cheerleaders and is an artist herself.  I foresee a show together!

My first formal art show...

I had a monthly meet up with a group of artists in my spiritual community.  I wanted to explore the creative process with others artists.  We were a small group of individuals with varied levels of training, skills, talents, and mediums.  We spent time in guided imagery and meditation.  We shared what we were working on with each other.  We conversed about joys and challenges we experienced in creating our art.  Together we put on a Newcomer's Art Show..."newcomer" meaning...We are new to this thing of showing our art to the public and hopefully selling some.  This art show was in April of 2018.  It was a tremendous learning experience.  The details necessary to create a professional event were many.  The flyer for the event is in an earlier, in fact, my first blog post.  Again, I express my appreciation and gratitude to the Columbine Unity Spiritual Center community for allowing us the opportunity to use the beautiful Foss Hall and for supporting us in attending and purchasing!  It was a beautiful event!  Thank you to Aylyn, Doug, Michael, and Sue!

I have three beautiful daughters.  Sometimes they say something that makes me realize something I have created is meant for them.  My middle daughter, Davis loves this "Affirmation Body" painting.  I made it to help me learn a particular affirmation meditation I found very powerful and wanted to learn.  Following my own guidance I created symbols for each affirmation and placed them with some order to help me learn them.  I remember the meditation so clearly even now and can affirm myself in specific ways anytime I feel I need it.
I have made poster prints of the painting and am happy to reproduce this for others upon request.

(The link goes to a mini lecture but the guided meditation begins at promp 030)

My eldest daughter, Meredith studied Art History at University of Colorado really liked this painting.  Typically when I paint, I want to be deep in contemplation and attempt to use my art as a way of understanding something spiritual or metaphysical.  I want to see in my work deep meaning.  And so, often paintings I create take a lot of time, or I put them away because I get stuck and don't know what I should do next.  I shared many of my paintings with Andrea Cermanski, a wonderful artist and a middle and high school art teacher in Santa Fe.  She also has workshops for adults which I've thoroughly enjoyed.  I still chuckle when she designated this one as one of my strongest pieces.  I just went out to my garage studio one day and used up some paint!  No thoughts.  No deep meaning.  Just lovely.  I express my gratitude to Andrea for the many technical things she has taught me and, for the invitation to just play!

I am an accomplished seamstress and when the girls were little, I sewed a lot for them.  Later when they were teens, I would have liked to have made them things but they weren't really interested by then.  Perhaps it's because when we would shop for clothes they would often hear me say, "I could make something like that for you."  Only, I never did.  So when my daughter mentioned she was wanted a painting for her apartment bathroom, I jumped at the opportunity to actually contribute.   I am grateful to Sloan for asking!  She's since moved out of her college apartment and up to Wisconsin.  So, the painting is back in my possession.  But, I welcome future requests, and promise to see it through.

Sue and Kevin McQueen are just my BEST clients!  I cannot express my gratitude enough for them in how they have supported and encouraged me down this creative path.  They were my first commission and well...they waited a long time for that piece of art to make its way toward completion.  It wasn't that it needed to take a long time, but the artists' inner critic can hold things up quite often and for long periods of time.  In my still early development as an artist, Sue and Kevin were so very patient and in that patience provided me a priceless opportunity to learn about my creative process and interaction with my inner critic.  For that and to them, I am completely full of gratitude and appreciation.  Thank you Sue and Kevin!

It was a Christmas Arts and Crafts fair in December of 2015 that introduced me to the idea of sharing my art in a professional way.  I read in the Columbine Unity Spiritual Center*
weekly email newsletter an open invitation to participate in an upcoming arts and crafts sale, and I courageously accepted the opportunity to put some of my art on sale.  I was nervous. But, it was and still is a very safe and loving environment with which to share my talents. The Columbine community is my spiritual community and has been a tremendous support in my spiritual development as well as my development as an artist.  It is difficult to describe what it feels like to have someone purchase my paintings. It is very affirming when someone I know appreciates something I created so much they want to own it and place it in a location where they can continue to enjoy it.  This first art and craft fair was so affirming for me.  "Altar Deep Within" was the very first painting that sold.  It is rich in metaphysical symbolism and I love it.  Thank you Kim Larrouy for being my very first client!

Vicky and John Hopkins are gracious owners of another painting I sold at this first art sale.  Vicky's excitement for my creating a website included several attempts at photographing the painting she bought so I could include it in the gallery.  This was before I realized the wisdom in creating a digital portfolio and record of my work and had not taken a photograph of it.  And, now I am writing blogs because I recognize the wisdom in creating a journal of gratitude for not only the art that is created through me but also for the people who bless me with their support in all kinds of ways.  I'm saving Vicky's painting here in order to do just that.  Thank you Vicky and John!!

Lisa Tousignant is a local artist in Broomfield, Colorado.   She considers herself an intuitive and experimental, abstract  artist working in acrylic and mixed mediums.
Art for Lisa is a spiritual practice and each piece she creates  teaches her something more about the formless expression of life.  She spends time alone in nature to support  her creative energy.  And, she experiments with ways to bring nature's expression of color, texture, and movement into her own artistic expression.
